Blue Crater

It is the source of a river of crystalline waters in the heart of the jungle and deposited on karst rock that forms a natural pool with blue and turquoise waters due to the effects of the minerals in the karst soil. It has a sub aquatic garden and an ideal depth for snorkelling in a natural jungle environment.

Blue CraterTour

Blue Crater Information

From the island of Flores early in the morning and 2 hours by land, you travel 70 kms of asphalted road until you reach the shores of the Rio La Pasión, Sayaxché. You board a boat or motorboat to navigate between canals and rivers for approximately 1.5 hours to the blue crater.

A full day should be available to visit this attraction and other water springs of spectacular natural beauty. Along the La Pasión river basin, you can also find Mayan archaeological sites of interesting beauty such as: Aguateca and El Ceibal which are not included in this tour, but can be scheduled in advance at an additional cost.

Cráter Azul is the source of a river that becomes a tributary of the great Río La Pasión. The karst composition of the soil allows swimming in turquoise blue waters and in its depths it has an underwater garden of immense natural beauty, surrounded by exuberant nature and a solitary jungle environment; a spectacular place for a day of snorkelling or swimming in its depths.

MAYA KAKAW TRAVEL can provide food, drinks and snorkelling equipment to make the tour more comfortable and enjoyable.
